Great Christmas Gift Ideas
|
Some people simply hate an idea of preparing to Christmas just because they take it as an extra expense. The most practical of them honestly believe that Christmas is some sort of commercial trick to get more money out of them. I would say that your attitude to Christmas totally and absolutely reflects your attitude to life in general. People say that you can see your glass of water being half empty, but some people would prefer to think their glass is half full. So, maybe you should stop counting on pennies and honestly put your mind into a belief that you can express your love to all people close to you - at least once a year. If you have no one like that around you, then I can only say - poor you… |
Well, Christmas is coming, and instead of complaining, just get a nice sheet of paper and make a list of your relatives and friends who deserve to receive a piece of your love this year. Make this particular Christmas very special – do not buy anything you would not want to buy for yourself. Think for a moment on each name you wrote down, try to imagine - what would you like to get as a gift if you were them.
Do bear in mind that Christmas is, firstly, for the kids who are inexperienced and are the greatest believers – please do not ruin their little world and try to make it feel especially sweet. Our grandparents can easily follow the first group as they are getting back to the childish stage and need to start believing again that the miracle exists. They probably have a limited time to enjoy their being, therefore, it is worth putting some effort to make them feel important and needed.
Okay, here is your list of gift receivers. Divide them into groups if possible. Try to think of useful gifts – the least thing you want - is to get your own useless present back one year later – after it got forgotten and dusted on a shelf of an attic of your relatives’ house.
Kids are not really that difficult – simply ask their parents on what they dream about. If they are your own – suggest them to create a wish list for Santa and use it as a guide line. Here is one tip for you. Remembering myself as a child I just can tell you privately that I never valued a pretty dress as a proper gift. I was always expecting a toy rather than a nice piece of clothes. |

For men, I can suggest to get a set of bath towels or a fun apron. If your man is into business then maybe you can find him some great pen. Perfumes are never good gifts, unless you know the taste of your man too well to not make a mistake. Nothing can be worse than receiving a fragrance which makes you feel sick.
Women, firstly, like to receive something making them look nice – try some beautiful silk scarves or wool shawls. They might also enjoy some nice things for their boudoir, for example, lavender sachets, picture frames or table runners.
If you send a gift to a couple then it is appropriate to buy something for their home – damask tablecloth, or a set of pure linen napkins. A set of beautiful wine glasses or aromatic candles will do well too.
Sourcing something for your mum, think of getting her something cosy – a set of pure linen tea towels, a lovely kitchen apron, a pair of cushions or wool pashmina. These sort of gifts will make them feel loved and important in your life.
Thinking of your grandparents you should try something to spoil their lives a bit. They always enjoy getting a food basket with a range of expensive cheeses, a tin of foie gras, or a case of vintage wine. If your budget allows, then you may buy them a set of luxury bed linen, or a nice bedspread, or a pair of lovely linen pillowcases – something for their bedroom as they might spend there a bit more time than we do.
Anything you buy – it should be useful, remember! There are always people who will be sending you absolute rubbish as Christmas gifts, but you just be above it and keep showing them that you really care about them in spite of anything. Then the other day they might become more thoughtful and caring too… Happy coming Christmas to you!!!
